A high-alkalinity (400 TBN) overbased calcium sulfonate used as a detergent and TBN booster in lubricants, as a corrosion inhibitor in protective oils, and as the feedstock for calcium-sulfonate greases.
Overview
Dewox 40 is an overbased calcium alkylbenzene sulfonate carried in refined mineral oil, with a total base number of around 400 mg KOH/g. The large alkaline reserve neutralizes acids, controls deposits and protects metal against corrosion.
Formulators use it as a detergent and TBN booster in lubricating and protective oils, as a corrosion inhibitor in rust-preventive systems, and as the primary feed for manufacturing high-performance calcium-sulfonate greases.
